Professionalism
Students in the program are expected to cultivate skills and qualities required of professionals in ABA. Toward that end students demonstrate the following:
- Responsibility – students keep up with class requirements and assignment deadlines. Students attend synchronous lectures and participate in class discussions.
- Respect for Others - Within the virtual classes, students are expected to treat each other with respect when commenting on discussion posts and follow rules of online etiquette including being aware of strong language; being careful with humor and sarcasm as it may not be perceived as such: using proper grammar and punctuation: citing sources; respecting privacy of classmates and instructor by maintaining virtual class recordings and discussion board posts within the class. Students uphold high standards of academic integrity and honesty. Additionally, students, staff and faculty follow the Texas A&M University-Victoria Nondiscrimination Policy: The policy of A&M-Victoria is to ensure equal opportunity in all its educational programs and activities, and all terms and conditions of employment without regard to age, race, color, disability, religion, national origin, veteran's status, genetic information, or sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity or status, or gender expression, except where such distinction is required by law.
- Engagement –Students are advised to seek student membership in a professional organization to further their growth in the field. Some organizations students might investigate include: Texas Association for Behavior Analysis (TxABA); Association of Professional Behavior Analysts; Association for Behavior Analysis International
- Adherence to University Policies – students review the A&M-Victoria Student Handbook for their Rights and Responsibilities as a student of A&M-Victoria. Within the Student Handbook are A&M-Victoria policies including grievance procedures. Students can also find information about A&M-Victoria resources for students available on campus and virtually.
