Shanequa Lopez can sing the praises of the University of Houston-Victoria, quite literally.

Shanequa Lopez

The recent graduate of Wagner High School in San Antonio was a part of the varsity choir at the school and sings in her church choir.

She first heard about UHV when members of the Letting Education Achieve Dreams program came to her school to help students fill out federal financial aid paperwork.

She liked what she heard about being part of the FIRST 200 and about Victoria itself.

“I like Victoria,” Lopez said. “It’s not too big, and it’s not too small. I’m not going to be bored out of my mind, but there are not a lot of distractions, either.”

Lopez plans to major in business with a marketing concentration and pursue a career in fashion marketing.
