Several things about the University of Houston-Victoria attracted incoming freshman Brandy Aguilar and made her decide to attend the university in the fall.

"It was away from home, and it was affordable," said Aguilar, who recently graduated from Southside High School in San Antonio. "I want to get the whole university experience."

Aguilar is interested in taking UHV business classes and eventually would like to open her own business, possibly a café.

While in high school, Aguilar was a member of the National Honor Society for a year and the band all four years. She plays the flute and piccolo.

"I'm really looking forward to being away from home on my own and meeting new people next year," she said.
