Claudia Fuentes, a senior at Southside High School in San Antonio, likes Victoria because it’s a small town.

“I hope to establish myself here,” she said. “I’ve always been the kind of person to not stop and keep working.”

Fuentes plans to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Houston-Victoria.

In high school, Claudia serves as parliamentarian of the National Honor Society and is an active member of the student council. She also has been a student athlete in volleyball and softball. While she doesn’t plan to play softball at UHV, she does plan to be an avid fan, she said.
