The recent graduate of Bolton High School in Alexandria plans to major in business and work with her uncle in the family oil and gas business based in Victoria.

“I’ve always loved the state of Texas,” she said, noting she was born in Houston. She’s visited family in Victoria yearly.

“I know this area is a great place to be, and I’m looking forward to getting back to my roots,” Brewer said.

She added she’s excited to be a part of the historic first freshman class at UHV.

Brewer maintained an active life outside of being a student while she was in high school. She’s an artist and was involved in a local youth art organization. She was a member of her school’s student council and also a student athlete in soccer, swimming and tennis. She participated in her school’s debate and dramatic improvisation teams. She also found time to be active in her church and work a few hours each week.
