That’s what led Jorge Macias, a recent graduate of John Jay High School in San Antonio, to join the FIRST 200 freshmen at the University of Houston-Victoria in the fall.

He first heard about UHV when a recruiter came to his school to share with his classmates. What the recruiter said caught Macias’ attention.

“It was awesome. UHV had everything that I wanted,” he said.

Macias plans to eventually earn his Master of Business Administration degree and hopes to play for the new UHV Jaguars men’s soccer team.

“I’ve been playing soccer since I was 7 years old, and I want to keep playing it,” he said.

Macias played soccer and basketball for his high school and was a member of the National Honors Society.
