When Jaime Luna, a senior at Idea College Preparatory in Donna, heard about the University of Houston-Victoria, one fact really jumped out at him.

“The chance to be a one of the first freshmen caught my attention right away,” Luna said. “I want to be a part of history.”

He added that he liked the thought of blazing trails other people would one day follow.

The size of UHV also drew his attention.

“It’s not too big, but you’ll still meet someone new every day,” he said.

Outside of the classroom, he plays baseball and soccer, and enjoys volunteering with different organizations in his community.

“If I can help out, I will,” he said.

Luna wants to major in criminal justice and pursue a career in law enforcement.

“I want to create a safe environment for kids to grow up in,” he said.
