Robert Delgado was sitting in the counseling area at Southside High School in San Antonio in February when he heard some University of Houston-Victoria recruiters talking about the university.

Robert Delgado

“I was like, ‘Wow. That sounds like a great opportunity,’” he said.

The rest is history. Delgado applied to UHV that same day and was accepted about two weeks later. Now he will be one of UHV’s FIRST 200 freshmen in the fall. He plans on majoring in biology and then getting his Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He eventually would like to be a nurse practitioner.

“I like that Victoria is a small town, and it’s slower paced,” he said. “I’ll be able to focus more on my school work.”

Delgado was on the power lifting team at his high school this year and played football his freshman year.
