Rowland Elementary School students Chico Washington, left, and Matthew Alcantar, work with University of Houston-Victoria biology students Gabriel Martinez, center, and John Longoria, far right, on Monday in the UHV Biology Lab. About 25 elementary students took part in histology experiments. Other stations had students processing tissue, embedding it in paraffin and cutting sections that could be put on slides, stained and examined on a microscope. Jesica McCue, UHV biology instructor, hosted the students in her graduate-level histology lab class.
