There are those who see potential with a program and those who choose to bring that potential to reality.

University of Houston-Victoria sophomore Jeremy Isaac wants to make a difference.

Isaac lived in Jaguar Hall his freshman year. A year later, he is serving as a resident assistant at Jaguar Court, the universitys other dorm. He took the resident assistant job because he wanted to have an impact on students living experiences.

I loved living in the dorms, and I wanted to contribute a little bit more, he said. Now I have a chance to make that happen. I can bring something new to the other students.

His main focus lies in bringing new events to Jaguar Court.

A recent alcohol awareness presentation featured talks by guest speakers and arcade-style machines that simulated what it is like to drive while drunk.

A lot of people came from both dorm properties, Isaac said. I think the students got a lot out of it. Our next big project is Resident Appreciation Week. I want to do even better things with that project.

Isaac, a Houston native, graduated from Stafford High School in 2011 before starting school at UHV. Although the move from the big city took a bit of adjustment, he said hes enjoyed it so far.

The accounting major has harbored a love of numbers since he was young and attributes it to an uncle who owns a consulting firm.

Hes always been my inspiration, said Isaac, who had an accounting internship for several years. This is something Im good at, and I really love what Im doing.

Isaacs schedule doesnt leave much room for downtime; still the 20-year-old enjoys playing football and lifting weights when he can.

Im your average jock, he said. I played football all through high school. I like being out there, being active.

He advised other students to hone their time management skills early on in school.

Make a schedule, plan out your day and keep with it, said Isaac, explaining its easy to get behind. It really is key in college.
