The University of Houston-Victoria women’s soccer team will host Huston-Tillotson University in a Red River Conference Quarter Final match Saturday at 1 p.m. at The Cage, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St.

The Jags took fourth place in the Conference after a 2-1 win over HTU this past Saturday. The loss dropped the Rams into fifth place. UHV finished the RRAC season with a 7-3-1 record (11-5-1 overall). The Rams dropped to 7-4 in conference play and 8-5 overall.

Saturday marks a return to the playoffs for UHV after missing the post-season last year. HTU is making its first RRAC quarter finals appearance since 2017. UHV enters the game on a 7-game unbeaten streak winning 6 times and tying once. The Jags are led by forward Estelle Flanagan’s team-leading 12 goals. The next goal Flanagan scores this season would put her into a three-way tie for most goals scored in a single season by a UHV Jaguar. The record of 13 goals in a season is currently shared by Sheilat Akapo and Emily Lupton.

UHV’s last post-season victory was against HTU back in 2015, a 2-0 win in the quarter finals.

The Jags lead the all-time series having won 8 times in 10 games.

The winner of Saturday’s match at The Cage advances to the RRAC Tournament Nov. 11-13 at Texarkana.
