A&M-Victoria drops fee for Free College Application Week
Texas A&M University-Victoria is participating in the statewide Free College Application Week, running from Oct. 13 to 19, in an effort to make higher education more accessible.
During that week, prospective students can submit their application to A&M-Victoria at no cost through the Apply Texas website.
“It’s a great opportunity for students who might be discouraged from applying to a university due to the application fee,” said Oscar Torres, A&M-Victoria director of recruitment.
While A&M-Victoria’s standing application fee is $25, fees at other institutions can range from $75 to $100, making this initiative especially valuable for families concerned about college costs, Torres said.
To qualify, applicants must be Texas residents and apply as undergraduates, either as freshmen or transfer students, using the Apply Texas website during the designated week.
“There are no other criteria,” Torres said. “It has to be that week only, Oct. 13 through 19.”
Once applications are submitted, A&M-Victoria’s admission counselors will reach out to students within one to three business days to assist them with the admissions process and help them receive an admissions decision promptly.
“If you are looking for a university where you are looking to really get to know your classmates, your professors, where you’re not just a number in the classroom and want to be part of an institution where you do have a voice and you are able to change things for future generations of Jaguars, then A&M-Victoria can be a great fit for you,” Torres said. “In terms of affordability, in the state of Texas, we are within the top five affordable universities.”
Texas A&M University-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 50 academic programs in the colleges of Business, Education & Health Professions, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, and Natural & Applied Science.
