A&M-Victoria gives students preview of college life

The spring semester is in full swing, and high school students are in the process of deciding where they want to attend college. Texas A&M University-Victoria will be hosting a Preview Day to show they don’t need to go far to get an excellent education.

Preview Day will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on March 7. The event will begin with check-in from 1 to 1:30 p.m. inside University North, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St., followed by a welcome from A&M-Victoria President Christian Hardigree inside Walker Auditorium.

“During Preview Day, we aim to paint a clear picture of what life as an A&M-Victoria Jaguar is truly about,” said Oscar Torres, director of recruitment. “Whether a student is preparing to graduate from high school, transferring from another institution, a working professional returning to complete a bachelor’s degree, or someone ready to pursue a master’s, we invite anyone who is considering the next step in their academic journey to come experience our campus.”

After the welcome, students and their families are invited to attend a variety of workshops and tours across campus. For students who are still considering their possible degree programs and future careers, the university’s academic colleges will be hosting Discover Your Degree Path sessions in various locations across campus. Students will be able to interact with faculty members and learn about the different fields and programs that are available.

In addition to helping students choose their majors, the university also will offer workshop sessions with Admissions team members to answer questions about the admissions process. Another workshop will be available for students who need assistance with financial aid. Both workshops will be located on the second floor of University Center.

Students also will be able to take tours of the A&M-Victoria campus and the student housing spaces. The Housing tour will showcase the apartment-style rooms inside Don & Mona Smith Hall, while campus tours will begin in the Welcome Center in the lobby of University Center.

During the last hour of the event, T-shirts will be available for students in University Commons. To register for Preview Day, go to https://connect.uhv.edu/register/Jag-Day-March-2026.
