Elementary students win scholarships in Black History Month Poster Contest

The winners of the 2026 Black History Month Poster Contest stand with their awards during a reception on Feb. 24 at Texas A&M University-Victoria. From left to right are: Victoria College President Jennifer Kent; second-place winner Amelia Williams of DeLeon Elementary School, who will receive a $1,000 A&M-Victoria scholarship and a $500 Victoria College scholarship; first-place winner Raider Stryker of DeLeon Elementary School, who will receive a $2,000 A&M-Victoria scholarship and a $1,000 Victoria College scholarship; third-place winner Brooklyn Ramirez of DeLeon Elementary School, who will receive a $500 A&M-Victoria scholarship and a $250 Victoria College scholarship; and A&M-Victoria President Christian Hardigree. The theme for this year's poster contest was, "A Century of Black History Commemorations." During the event, the Palestine Baptist Drill Team also gave a special performance.
