College of Business - Societal Impact
SOCIETAL IMPACT
Our current initiatives include the A&M-Victoria Non Profit Center, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at A&M-Victoria.
Non Profit Center
Brooke Garcia, Clinical Assistant Professor of Management, is a key figure in our mission to instill societal responsibility in our students. Under her guidance, students are exposed to real-world challenges and learn to apply business principles to address complex social issues.
The Nonprofit Center at A&M-Victoria, a collaboration between the College of Business and the United Way of the Crossroads, is working to strengthen capacity and sustainability for nonprofit organizations through local, affordable, professional education and training in Victoria and the surrounding rural communities.
The Nonprofit Center at A&M-Victoria offers:
- Professional Development Workshops – ½ day events covering timely topics for program staff, leadership, and board members.
- Board Boot Camps – full day of training and discussion in topics specific to the board of directors.
- Nonprofit Leadership Academy – 9-month leadership program for current and future community leaders.
- Lunch & Learn Events – skills-based learning opportunities for front-line staff and volunteers.
- Organizational Assessments – CCAT-based assessments with expert-guidance.
- Consulting and Coaching.
