Texas A&M University-Victoria is committed to providing an inclusive learning environment for all students. In accordance with federal and state laws, the university offers reasonable accommodations to students with documented disabilities to ensure equal access to educational opportunities. If you encounter barriers to your education due to a disability, or believe you may have a disability, we encourage you to contact Accessibility & Accommodations as early as possible to discuss your needs and explore available support.

On the first day of class each semester, make a general announcement about the availability of services for students with disabilities at A&M-Victoria, and give them contact information for Accessibility & Accommodations. Also, announce your willingness to reasonably assist students who have registered with A&M-Victoria Accessibility & Accommodations.

DisabilityServices@tamuv.edu - Please do not provide academic accommodations unless you have received an Accommodation Notification Letter from Accessibility & Accommodations. Please contact the Accessibility & Accommodations Manager to inquire about the student's status.
- Accommodation Notification Letters will be sent to instructors and students by email through the AIM (Accommodation Information Management) System. The accommodations become effective on the date the letters are issued and remain in effect for the duration of the current semester. The letter is your notification that the accommodations listed have been approved by the Accessibility & Accommodations Manager and it is your responsibility to implement them right away.
- Confidentiality of all disability information is essential. Be very careful not to single out or call attention in any way to students with disabilities while other students are present or during class.
- Be available to meet with identified students. Although we cannot require it, students are strongly encouraged to schedule a time to meet with instructors each semester. The particulars of each student’s needs should be discussed so that both of you understand the approved accommodations. If it is not possible to meet face to face, then phone or email is acceptable. Students are not required to disclose their disability to anyone but Accessibility & Accommodations. Please do not ask the student why he/she needs a particular accommodation or auxiliary aid. The instructor and student may not make changes to the accommodations. You must contact the Disability Services Manager to discuss any proposed changes.
- Students may register with Disability Services at any time during a semester – there is no ‘deadline’. Likewise, faculty cannot set a ‘deadline’ for accepting accommodation letters for students. Accommodations are not retroactive.
- Questions or Concerns - Faculty who have questions or concerns about an approved academic accommodation and/or believe that the accommodation would result in a fundamental alteration, or undue hardship must meet with the Accessibility & Accommodations Manager right away to discuss their concerns. The instructor must provide the approved accommodation in the interim.
- Ensure that all classroom materials, videos, etc., are in accessible format. This applies to all modes of course instruction. Visit our Title IX website to learn More about Technology Accessibility or contact Accessibility & Accommodations.
- Academic Standards - Hold all students to the same academic standards set by the university department or program.
- Regarding students who have testing accommodations:
Extended time accommodation applies only to timed quizzes and exams. It does not apply to assignments. Double time means double. If regular time allowed for the exam is 30 minutes, the student with double time will have 60 minutes for the exam. The extended time can be set for individual students in Canvas.
Once I publish a timed quiz, how can I give my students extra time? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com). If you need assistance with setting online course exam/quiz time extensions in Canvas, please contact the instructional support staff in your college.
For face-to-face instructional settings, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the A&M-Victoria Testing Center to schedule all quizzes/exams for the semester. To schedule all timed quizzes/exams the student should contact:
