Who is my advisor?
Once you log in to myUHV and you'll find your assigned advisor in your Student Center. Select the Student Center tile and look for the “Advisor” section after you log in.
How do I make an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment using the contact information listed in your myUHV Student Center. You can also explore programs and advising contacts on the Advising page.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Yes. You may bring someone if you have a FERPA release on file with Student Records. The FERPA form can be found on the Student Records' Forms page.
How do I find my Degree Progress Report (DPR)?
Log in to myUHV. Go to the Student Center tile. Choose “Other Academic Information,” then select “Academic Requirements.”
What do my holds mean?
Success Coach Advising Hold
An Advising hold is placed on ALL incoming students until they discuss courses with their advisor. Email the Student Success Center at SSCHelp@uhv.edu for more information.
Academic School Hold
Transfer students with 45 or more hours must speak with their program advisor. Log in to myUHV. Go to the Student Center tile to find your advisor.
Program Change Hold
Contact your new advisor to remove this hold.
DPR Acknowledgement Hold
Log in to myUHV. Go to the Communications tile. Select “Acknowledgments,” then choose “DPR” and follow the steps.
How do I change my major?
- Meet with the advisor for the major you want to switch to.
- Complete the Change of Program Form.
- Send the form to the college for your new major:

- College of Education & Health Professions
- College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (Email: LASS@tamuv.edu)
- College of Natural & Applied Science
What is a prerequisite? What is a co-requisite?
A prerequisite is a course you must finish before you take another course. A co-requisite is a course you take at the same time as another course. You can view course requirements in the A&M–Victoria Academic Catalog.
How many classes can I take each semester?
Full-time enrollment is:
- 12 or more credit hours for undergraduate students
- 9 or more credit hours for graduate students
Some students may take more hours with advisor approval. See the Academic Catalog for details.
What is the difference between lower and upper-division courses?
- 1000–2000 level: Lower-division undergraduate courses
- 3000–4000 level: Upper-division undergraduate courses
- 6000 level: Graduate courses

How do I add or drop a class?
You can add or drop classes during the dates listed in the Academic Calendar. Use myUHV Self-Service to make changes.
If you receive financial aid, talk with a Financial Aid Specialist before dropping a class. Refund information is available on the Refund Schedule page.
How do I find an internship?
Talk with your Faculty Program Director. You can explore programs on the A&M–Victoria Academics page.
Do I need to maintain a specific GPA?
You must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA to stay in good standing and to graduate. Some majors require a higher GPA. You can review academic standing policies in the Academic Catalog.
What if I get dropped from my classes because of nonpayment?
You must complete a reinstatement form and send it to your advisor or college. You can find billing information on the Student Billing page.
How do I apply for graduation?
Apply through myUHV: Go to Degree Progress → Graduation → Apply for Graduation. You can find instructions on the A&M–Victoria Graduation page.
How do I find information about my Commencement Ceremony?
You can find ceremony dates, times, and requirements on the A&M–Victoria Commencement page.
How do I get my transcripts?
You can order transcripts through Parchment. Instructions are on the Transcript Request page. Transcripts cost $7.00 plus tax. They cannot be released if you have a hold.
