Grants = Free Money for College

Grants are one of the best ways to pay for school because they don’t have to be repaid. You may qualify for federal, state, or other grants that can help lower the cost of your education. Just complete your FAFSA or TASFA each year to see what you’re eligible for-it’s that simple.

Federal Grants

Pell Grant

This program is here to support you as you work toward your first bachelor’s degree. The amount you receive is based on your FAFSA results (Student Aid Index) and your cost of attendance—helping make your education more affordable.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

The FSEOG provides additional funding to students with exceptional financial need. Priority is given to students who receive a Pell Grant and are pursuing their first bachelor’s degree. To remain eligible, you must be enrolled at least half time.

TEACH

The TEACH Grant provides funding to students enrolled in a teacher education program who plan to pursue a career in education. In exchange, recipients agree to teach for four years as a full-time teacher in a high-need subject area at a school serving low-income students. This grant can be a great option if you’re committed to making a difference in the classroom.

State Grants

Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)

The Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) is funded by a portion of student tuition and is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. To qualify, you must complete the FAFSA or TASFA and be enrolled at least half time.

Toward Excellence, Access, and Success (TEXAS) Grant

The TEXAS Grant helps make college more affordable for Texas students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree. To be eligible, you must have graduated from high school under the Recommended or Distinguished Achievement/Advanced curriculum, demonstrate financial need, and meet minimum credit hour and GPA requirements each year to maintain eligibility

Institution Grants

The Undergraduate and Graduate Offset Grants helps students cover college costs using funds set aside from tuition. To be eligible, you must demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA or TASFA and be enrolled at least half time. This grant is a great way to make your education more affordable while pursuing your degree.
