Community Health Center of South-Central Texas
Texas A&M-Victoria is partnered with the Community Health Center of South-Central Texas (CHCSCT) to address many of your healthcare needs. Students who reside within 50 miles of Victoria can access these services. Services include treatment for colds, flu, diabetes, STIs, blood pressure, birth control, COVID19, and more. Initial visits are $25 which includes up to two in-house labs (e.g., COVID19, flu, strep). Additional labs may cost additional fees, and dental consults start at $50. Insurance is not required but may be used.
Visit http://communityhealthtx.com/clinics/victoria to learn more about the services they offer. To schedule an appointment, call 361-576-2110 or visit CHCSCT at 4206 Retama Circle. Their hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesdays.
When you attend your first appointment, you will need to bring:
- Texas State issued ID or a Student ID card to show eligibility
- Proof of address (Print from your student portal)
- Proof of financial eligibility (FAFSA print-out, available in your student portal)
If you don’t have access to transportation, consider using the Victoria Transit system. Check out their website for schedules and maps of their bus routes: www.gcrpc.org/fixed-route-services.html. CHCST is located on the Blue Route near Dick’s Food Store. A&M Victoria Shuttle Services do not provide transportation to the Community Health Center.
Detar Health Clinic (Located at the Texas A&M Victoria Health & Wellness Center)
Students can access the DeTar Medical Group Primary Care Clinic East located at the Texas A&M-Victoria Health and Wellness Center using their personal health insurance or self-pay options. Appointments can be made by calling (361) 305-6500. They also accept walk-in appointments.

UpLift Telemental Health Services
Our mental health partner, UpLift, offers virtual sessions at affordable rates (sometimes even free sessions, depending on your insurance) with therapists and psychiatric providers. If you have insurance or are interested in meeting with a provider unrelated to the university, UpLift can be a great resource for you.

Student Health Insurance Plan
2025-2026 Enrollment Information:
Student Health Insurance is offered to students who meet eligibility criteria. For more information on plans, cost, and how to enroll visit https://tamuvictoria.myahpcare.com.
2025-2026 Enrollment Information:
- Fall (coverage begins 09/01/2025) open enrollment period is 07/07/2025 - 9/30/25
- Spring/Summer (coverage begins 01/01/2026) open enrollment period is 11/17/25 - 2/14/26
- Summer (coverage beginning 5/17/26) open enrollment period is 04/01/2026 - 06/03/2026
- Summer II (coverage begins 07/01/2026) open enrollment period is 06/04/25 - 7/15/25
International Students
Students on an F1 or J1 visa are required to maintain approved health insurance coverage continuously while enrolled and attending a Texas A&M University System institution. F1 and J1 students will be bursar billed and automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan.

Voluntary Students
Undergraduates must be enrolled in at least nine (9) credit hours of classes that are a part of the student's degree plan each fall and spring semester, and be in a degree-seeking program.
Graduate students (non-employed) must be enrolled in at least five (5) credit hours of classes that are part of the student's degree plan each fall and spring semester.
Students who are enrolled in less than the required hours as outlined above may be determined eligible for this Student Health Insurance Plan if the student meets one of the approved exceptions as defined by the Texas A&M System Benefits Administration office. Bacterial Meningitis Immunization Requirements
Texas law requires that all entering students under the age of 22 provide a certificate signed by a health care provider or an official immunization record verifying that a student has been vaccinated against bacterial meningitis or has received a booster during the five years prior to registration.
