Preparing for Your Final Semester

As you approach your final semester at Texas A&M University-Victoria, be sure to complete these important steps to stay on track for graduation:

  • Meet with Your Academic Advisor – Confirm that all degree requirements will be met by your intended graduation date.
  • Submit Your Graduation Application – All graduating students must complete a graduation application, even if they do not plan to participate in the commencement ceremony.
  • Verify Your Diploma Information – Log into Self-Service to ensure your Diploma Name and mailing address are correct.
  • Check Your Student Email Regularly – Important updates about commencement, degree awarding, and diploma distribution will be sent to your student email.

Note: The final degree audit begins after final grades are posted and may take up to 4 weeks to complete.

Graduation Application

Graduation verification at A&M–Victoria is a two-step process:

Step 1: Preliminary Verification

After you apply for graduation, your academic advisor will review your degree progress. Once the review is complete, you will receive an email at your university student account outlining any outstanding requirements.

To stay on track for graduation, be sure to finish all coursework and turn in any required documents no later than three weeks after the end of the term (check the Academic Calendar for exact dates).

These may include:

  • Submit outstanding transcripts
  • Send CLEP, AP, or IB credit
  • File petitions or course substitution forms
  • Request updates to your major or minor
  • Request a change to your catalog year
  • Request a change your catalog year

Step 2: Final Degree Audit

Degrees are not awarded as soon as you finish your last class. Graduation processing takes place only after final grades are posted for the entire term and end-of-term processing is complete. For example, if you complete your final courses during the 8-Week 1 session, your degree will not be awarded until the end of the full semester, once all grades and processing are finalized.

The Office of the Registrar & Student Records will then review your degree plan to confirm all requirements have been met. Graduation processing is not automated—degrees are awarded only after this review.

  • If everything is complete, you will receive an email at your university student account once your degree has been officially conferred.
  • If requirements are not met, you will receive an email at your university student account with next steps and a deadline by which all outstanding requirements must be completed.

Graduating with Honors and Honors Cord

  • 3.85–4.0 Summa cum laude

Note: Graduate students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher in their respective program; therefore, honor status recognition is not applicable.
